Our Gluten Free, Michigan Themed Wedding Welcome Bags
I know it’s a bit unusual, but without a doubt my favorite part of the wedding planning process was designing our wedding welcome bags!
Michigan Wedding Welcome Bags
Our wedding welcome bags were Michigan themed, because we were inviting our guests from all around the world to join us in Onekama, a little town on the coast of Lake Michigan. This is certainly not a place that the Brits would’ve visited if it weren’t for our wedding. The same is true for many of our American guests (for instance, my New York City-based family hopped on a tiny 12-person plane connection to make it to northern Michigan to celebrate with us!).
In my mind, the wedding welcome bags became a way of not only thanking our guests for attending our destination wedding, but also showcasing the beauty and entrepreneurship of Michigan and Michiganders. Michigan is a gorgeous, underrated state, and Dan and I took our roles as a two-person tourism board quite seriously!
It became a small project for me to source (for the most part) products from Michigan-based small businesses. I also had to throw in a couple nods to the UK for Dan (peep the Dorset tea!). And, of course, everything had to be fully gluten free!
A big thank you to the Michigan-based gluten free companies that sent us their products for our wedding welcome bags – they were such a treat for our guests, and a joy to share with them. If you’re planning your own wedding welcome bags, then I couldn’t recommend these products more.
