Best Travel Pants | Encircled Pants Review
When I was in college, one of my friends described my aesthetic as ‘just-finished-teaching-a-yoga-class-chic.’ Well, the ‘chic’ may have been debatable. But for as long as I’ve been dressing myself, I’ve focused on versatile clothes. Yes, something I can wear to teach a yoga class. But I want to also wear it to lunch afterwards, maybe a poetry reading, a flight across the country, a panel on women saving the world, and a buffet-style dinner date. Girl’s gotta eat…#notimefortightwaistbands. Does it sound like I’m describing the best travel pants ever?
But what if these same pants could also be ethical and sustainable? And created by a hyper-local company that’s a certified B-corporation and owned by an empowered woman?! Okay, now it really sounds like I’m dreaming.
The best travel pants I’ve ever worn
But, obviously, dreams come true because I have found the company that created the best travel pants. Ever. Blog readers, meet Encircled.
When I was at the Women in Travel Summit in Quebec in May, I discovered the Encircled stall, and the lovely Kristi Soomer who founded the company (and who also didn’t mind me returning about 20 times just to feel the display clothes… so soft!). Kristi was kind enough to send me a pair of my very own ‘dressy sweats’ to test over the last couple months. And what did I discover? These are truly the best travel pants of all time.

Why the Encircled dressy sweatpants are the best travel pants
I have been ‘testing’ these pants out for two months (read: wearing them every chance I can). They were the only long pants I wore on my three week trip to the UK and Portugal (I brought other pants… I just didn’t want to wear them!). Pretty sure I wear my dressy sweats to work about 90% of the time nowadays. And they have been on two long road trips with me!

How to style Encircled dressy sweatpants
Seeing as my style is that of someone who just rushed out of a sweaty yoga class and is on to the next thing, maybe I am not the world’s foremost fashion guru. I’m more focused on experiencing life to the fullest (and comfiest) possible, and I want my clothes to help me do that, rather than complicated things. However, even with my own fumbling fashion skills I have managed to style the Encircled dressy sweats. I’ve worn them appropriately to work, out on dates with my boyfriend, and in (lots) of airports. Here are a few styles for your own inspiration:
^Lavender farm in Northern Michigan | I wore my dressy sweats on a long road trip. Paired with an old, comfy black tank top and black sandals, as well as sunnies and a bun. It was the perfect comfortable outfit for a long drive, but also appropriate for photo stops!
^Bura Surfhouse in Lagos, Portugal | The dressy sweats were the perfect weight to wear in Portugal. For a casual, slightly dressed up vacation date night look, I paired them with boat shoes, a loose Top Shop cami, a bandeau bra, and a colorful scarf/headband.
^ Beach huts in Dorset, England | Here, I made my dressy sweats into the perfect beach cover up. I paired them over a plunge neckline ASOS swimsuit as we explored the British coast.
See, you can truly wear these pants anywhere! In fact, I think they are even giving me a bit of fashion inspiration. I am actually enjoying styling myself, facing the little challenge of how to dress these pants up or down.
