A couple months ago I made a British Summer Bucket List.
Well, it may (barely) still be summer, but I’m back chilling in the USA for a bit! So I thought I would check in and see how I did…and what I need to save for next summer!
My first summer in Britain… How did I do?!?!
See a play at the Minack Theatre in Cornwall– And the views were amazing!See a play at the Globe in London– saw an Irish version of Taming of the Shrew with my Michigan friend Sydney.See an outdoor play in Regent’s Park– I saw Henry V together with my parents and our old family friends from Australia, can’t believe I never went when I studied abroad!- Go punting in Oxford – A goal for next summer…
- Visit Kew Gardens – As is this one! We were all a bit ill and/or tired on our weekend in London
Hike to Old Harry Rocks– Jaw dropping and way harder than I expected.- Walk the Cobb in Lyme Regis
Go swimming at Tinside Lido– And received worst sunburn of life/most unfortunate tan lines- Paddleboard in the ocean
Have a pint overlooking the ocean– yes, yes, and yes!Take the ferry to Kingsand/Cawsand in Cornwall– a magical early summer day out with my Michigan bestiesDrink Pimms in the sun– if the setting sun (in Regent’s Park) counts!- Go to Monkey World in Dorset – I watched it on TV! But still gotta make it in person…
- Go camping on Dartmoor – MUST.
Have a disposable barbecue –We had a massive one on Plymouth Hoe for George’s birthday, this was one of the best summer nights!Get a wetsuit and swim in the ocean– got a wetsuit…as yet to swim in the ocean. So… half check?Visit Cardiff- Go to and/or
celebrateWimbledon – NEXT YEAR I AM THERE. Try out Duck & Waffle and Breakfast Club in London– and absorb all their gluten free options, yes.Go on a blue bell walkGo to a music festival– not a huge one but I loved MTV Crashes Plymouth!- Attend the Welsh literary festival at Hay-on-Wye
Visit Liverpool- Visit Wexford, Ireland – Alas dat bank account doe
Go up the Shard In London- Visit Durham – one of my biggest regrets! Just didn’t have time.
Run the Totnes 10k– and smashed it yeah
17/27… good thing I’ve got another summer to look forward to in the UK!
What did you get up to this summer? Anything special? Any must-do’s for next summer? What are you looking forward to checking off your list this fall (or as the British say, Autumn!)?

Great stuff! I find making a bucket list is a great way to keep ourselves accountable towards achieving goals. Looks like you accomplished quite a bit!
