January 2016 | Recap

January has been full of some high highs and some low lows for me. That is one main reason you haven’t seen me posting as much this month!

Shall we do the lows first?

As you read in my 2015 recap, at the end of 2015 goodbyes were said to my puppy and my dear friend’s father. In the first month of 2016, goodbyes were said to my family’s other two puppies. It’s been a very hard time as for us, our dogs have always been an equal part of the family.

Now, the highs.

I started placement (basically work/job during my degree). I am really enjoying my time a lot, but unfortunately even though it’s a big part of my life right now, I can’t write much about it on the blog as I deal with confidential cases. I can say, though, that I’m working with refugees and it is really eye opening, uplifting, and has made me a lot more passionate and knowledgeable about the current refugee “crisis.”

I’ve also had the chance to do a nice coastal walk along the Devon seaside, get back into running, see one of my favorite bands play, and visit some new independent cafes which I’ll post about soon. Mostly, though, my days are consumed with placement!

Here’s to February, friends (and family ?)! As the yogis say, we shall change what we cannot endure, and endure what cannot be changed.
